Recognition means something when it is earned
We have always believed the real test of a barbecue restaurant is whether people want to come back. Still, it means a great deal when people outside our dining room notice the work. Over the years, Red State BBQ has received attention from national publications and from readers here at home in Kentucky.
A national mention
Red State BBQ was included in a New York Post national barbecue roundup in July 2017, with a reported #9 ranking.
Kentucky recognition
Kentucky Living Magazine recognized Red State BBQ in its Best in Kentucky awards in 2017, 2019, and 2022. Three separate years of recognition mean a lot to us because they reflect the support of people who know the restaurant and the community we serve.
Other press
The restaurant was also featured in Southern Living in October 2015 and The Detroit News in July 2016. These mentions are part of our history, but we want to represent each publication accurately rather than turn a feature into an award it never claimed to be.
What it means for the sauces
Our bottled sauces grew from the same restaurant and the same attention to flavor. Awards do not automatically make a bottle taste better. They do tell new customers there is a real restaurant, with years of work behind it, and a story worth exploring. The best way to understand that story is still to try the barbecue—and then take a favorite sauce home.
